A gem of a book. When I first got my beauty bible I read it from cover to cover. The real joy of this book is being able to dip in and out of it whenever I like. It is honest, and dosn't encourage you to buy a particular product. It just tells you the facts! I bought the highest rated self tan product, and the results were what I expected them to be - if not better. EVERY woman should own this book. I am in my mid forties, have tried just about every beauty product on the planet (feels like it!) and wish I had had this book years ago. It is beautifully written and illustrated, is a pleasure to read, and a joy to own. |

Refreshing and beautiful book. I was very upset to hear that the author of this book, Kevyn Aucoin, had died. He was a makeup genius and is such a loss for the makeup world. His images where so enchanting. I loved the variety of photographs such as the unique but totally different portraits of Karen Elson as Elizabeth I with startling white skin and Mary J Blige's Skin covered in beautiful eggplant black foundation. This book is essential to any makeup fanatic like me. And everyone just has to fall in love with the show stopping picture of a famous actress made up as James Dean. |

Informative, useful and beautiful! This is the best beauty book I own! At first glace it's full of really beautiful pictures of real people whose transformation using simple make-up techniques is really inspiring. But it doesn't stop there. The text is informative and translates into real life. Advice is clear and easy to understand, and I've been able to use them successfully. The best of all is that it covers such a wide range of age-groups, skin colours, and different events that life brings. Personally I'd recommend it to anyone interested in make-up. It's inspiring! |

Highly Recommended. It Works! Easy to read book, in simple terms, about the cause of poor skin condition and what to eat to improve it. Not only did my skin look and feel better within two weeks, I lost weight fairly quickly - about 5 kg in a month.I had gained weight with unhealthy eating! Now I have returned to my "normal" weight, I feel better, have more energy and my skin feels smoother. The diet is fairly straightforward and sensible. I don't know if related to the author's diet, but I suffer less headaches and flushes. Is there a connection? Well recommended! |

If you have to buy one beauty
book, this should be it! I bought this book a few months
after it was first published in the UK, and I am still using
it for reference now. The advice in it is still relevant for
today, it really hasn't dated, unlike many beauty books that
you'll now find in charity shops and boot fairs. Bobbi gives
sensible tips on how to make the most of your features, how
to disguise 'flaws', how to apply make up, ideas for different
occasions, and tips for women of all skin colours. The book
is beautifully written, easy to follow, pleasing to the eye,
with plenty of excellent quality photos. I particularly liked
the section on specific facial features, the celebrities that
have them, and how to make the most of/disguise them. It's
an extremely useful book written in an unpatronising way without
any noticeable marketing pressure. I wholeheartedly recommend
it to anybody who is looking to buy a comprehensive beauty
and make up manual. Oh, and there's not an irritating anorexic-looking
model biting into an apple with a faked 'I'm so full of vitality'
picture to be seen. Thankfully. |

A bible for make-up professionals.
I was very impressed with the new book from Francois Nars.
He has created a simple, easy to view book of beautiful make-up
ideas. Each page has a before-and-after shot of the model,
then a film over-lay detailing how to apply the make-up. Francois
has a very refreshing philosophy about make-up and it is one
I agree with. His style of application is within the reach
of every woman, not just celebrity models. I have certainly
used some of the ideas in this book for my own work, especially
for photographic work and parties. Can't wait for the next
book to come out! |

Fantastic! Theres everything
you need to know. I found this book really good. It's
the make up Bible for all women who want to feel and look
good. There's nothing more that could be added to it. It goes
through each part of your face and gives you great tips on
which makeup would be best for your skin type and occasion.
It also gives you information on which make up would compliment
a certain part of your face. I would recommend it to anyone.

It left me wanting more. I
have to admit the cover of Sam Fine's book caught my attendtion
particularly after seeing the models before shot. I knew this
was a book I had to have. I have since applied many of Sam's
tips to my makeup application. I do however wish Sam would
publish a pocket size book with a lot more detail information.
I had so many questions after reading the book, it left me
wanting much more. While living and working in Germany it
is very difficult to stay current on the new finds and styles
of today, especially for black women. Sam Fine has made it
possible for more Sisthas to put the right amount of emphasis
on the beauty they hold. I too await his next book (don't
keep us waiting Sam), his cosmetic line, and I understand
there will be a video released soon. Sam, from one Chicagoen
to another, thank you! |

Great advice for women of ALL
colors and races! So many times it's difficult to find
make-up advice if you happen to have a unique skin coloring
- and especially if you're of a different race! Chic Simple
gives easy to follow advice on how to make the best of the
features each one of us have - not just the 8 supermodels
in the world! Not only that, but there are a lot of pictures
to show what they mean. I really liked the section that explained
what all these toners and cleansers are really for - and what
they really do. Also, it tells you how to really figure out
what kind of skin you have and how to take care of it. If
you don't need to use an astringent, it'll tell you. Believe
me, this book will take away confusion from the make-up counter.
You'll end up saving money because you'll get what cosmetics
and skin care products you need - the first time! |

Girl. This book has really helped me with my makeup and
general beauty skills. There is a whole chapter on zits and
how to cover them up which I found really helpfull. This book
